Built for the Ontario School Board market, Cardinal's IEP Writer is co-developed
with the Kawartha Pine Ridge and Simcoe County District School Boards.
Running on IIS, the IEP Writer offers an easy to use interface to create,
print, share, and 'send' IEPs to users across the board. Built with dial-up
connection speed and 800x600 resolution in mind, the IEP Writer can accommodate the
most geographically diverse board in the province while deliverying clean and lightening
quick access for users on the intranet or high-speed internet connecitons.
Stability:
An extensive set of profiles and parameters allows the IEP writer to be customized to
suit each board’s unique requirements without the need for customized board-specific coding.
A single common IEP writer version is maintained for all users.
SIS Integration:
A standard set of profiles allow boards to map the location of the student data
(via ODBC connection strings). While student data is copied to the IEP database to
ensure IEP Writer availability while student systems are down, data integrity is checked
at each IEP access and any discrepancies or changes found are highlighted and automatically
changed within the current IEP.
Content
The IEP Writer is equipped with a complete curriculum database, derived from the Ministry.
Board specific course codes and expectation statements can be added to satisfy all board’s
unique requirements.
The IEP Writer comes equipped with comprehensive accommodations, strengths, needs, strategies
and many other reference tables that can be maintained and expanded by the board.
Secure
A complete security system ensures users have access to what they need and how they need it.
Read, write and delete privileges can be each individually assigned to the various components
of the IEP and a user can be granted privileges to a school or group of schools. User, Super User,
Administrator and System Manager each have a unique set of rights to the system. An IEP is ‘owned’
by the user who creates it and can be ‘shared’ with or ‘sent to’ another user.
Printing & Reporting
Flexibility routines include one-up or criteria selection printing of IEPs using a selection
of pre-packaged IEP print formats. Using Adobe’s form fill application and the IEP’s XML
output generator, boards can easily create and maintain their own set of IEP print formats as
well as other documents, forms and letters.
Help & Reference
Each field in the IEP Writer has a pop-up help window that can be modified to include board
specific instructional content. Links to reference material (in the form of web sites, PDF
documents, word documents, etc) can be easily added to the IEPs menu by the system administrator.
